May 10, 2019

We are delighted to learn that ATAS accredited experience and travel supplier, The Bucks Co, has been named Champion in Tourism for 2019 at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards held in Sydney recently.

The Bucks CoĀ (travel agency based in Melbourne, VIC) specialises in giving Australian grooms ‘one last great big adventure, through awesome parties, experiences and a commitment to its customers.’

The win is fantastic recognition for a business in only its third year of operation, and its first tilt at a major award.

“The Small Business Champion recognition is great and confirms we are on the right path. It makes us feel accepted in the tourism community and is a real source of pride. It’s the first award for our trophy cabinet but we have every intention of adding to it”, quipped Julian Haines, Founder and CEO of the Fitzroy, Melbourne based travel agency The Bucks Co.

“The Bucks Co was only established three years ago, and we have spent a lot of time building our product database through our supply partners, refining our systems and processes and growing our team”, added Julian.

According to the organisers of the Australian Small Business Champion Awards, the program is the only national recognition program dedicated to Australian small businesses. The program aims to recognise outstanding Australian small businesses and encourage high standards of excellence in small business practice.

“The Australian Small Business Champion Awards is a way to recognise the efforts of small business people whose efforts contribute to the prosperity and vitality of communities across Australia”, said Steve Loe, Managing Director of Precedent Productions and founder of the awards.
Small businesses from across Australia delivered an impressive array of entries, with winners representing a broad range of industries from all states and territories.

When asked about the role that ATAS accreditation played in The Bucks Co’s submission, Julian indicated it was a significant factor.

“Our ATAS accreditation absolutely formed part of our submission. Since joining ATAS we have really embraced our membership and are quick to tell our consumers and suppliers that we are ATAS accredited, and to explain the benefits of that accreditation”, he said.

At the gala ceremony, The Bucks Co team received an award statuette, certificate and gained national recognition as an industry leader.

“This victory illustrates the outstanding quality of your business and is a celebration of the journey you have taken to reach this point in your business success.  You have demonstrated your quality within your industry and have been deemed the most outstanding. I would like to once again congratulate you on your momentous win”, said Steve Loe.

The team behind The Bucks Co aren’t wasting any time resting on their laurels. Returning to work after the awards ceremony, they pushed ahead with development of two new event and experience brands: House of Hens (a henā€™s party specialist); and Team Days, a business dedicated to ‘corporate team days made fun’.

How did The Bucks Co celebrate?

“The team was so rapt with the result we celebrated as only we know howā€”with axe throwing and a brewery visit!”, says Julian.
