1. Lord Howe Island

Less than 2 hours’ flight from Brisbane or Sydney, and situated 660 kilometres off the North Coast of NSW, at any one time you could be one of only 400 visitors on Lord Howe Island. It’s one of those places to consider if you don’t want mobile reception, and you’d like to bike around. Surrounded by a protected coral reef filled with marine life, and world heritage listed for its geology, rare plants and wildlife, this unspoilt paradise will allow you to des-stress in an unhurried environment. Get the privacy you need in a wide range of accommodation options with excellent dining and spa treatments. Consider Capella Lodge, a luxurious island retreat complete with rainshower, outdoor freestanding Lotus bath tub amid the seclusion of nature, private plunge pool, daybed, and an adults only bar. Be at one with your natural surroundings, and lap up the sanctuary of your own space.

2. Uluru

If you want to glamp (glamous camping where everything is provided) try this option enjoyed by William and Kate (so fit for a prince or princess). This luxury resort in the Northern Territory is known as Longitude 131, and allows you to enjoy romantic nights under the stars. Tents offer wall-length windows with your own view of Uluru’s north side. Think Arabian Nights, with draped canvas roofing, yet 5 star bedding and bathrooms.

3. Jervis Bay

Or if you want something closer to New South Wales, try Paperbark Camp in Jervis Bay. Discover the prefect mix of camping and wildlife by candlelight. For ultimate romance, try the King Deluxe tent with a free standing bath and outdoor bush shower amongst the gums.

4. Scenic Rim

And if neither of those is convenient enough for you, maybe Ketchup’s Bank Glamping in the Scenic Rim of Queensland will suit? It’s located in Cannon Creek Boonah – only 1.5 hours’ drive south-west of Brisbane, where two plush tents share a 40 hectare property, with everything provided from the fire wood to robes. There’s a well-stocked bush kitchen, or opt to have a BBQ dinner delivered ready to cook, with someone else to clean up, or a billy-tea breakfast. But bookings may be limited, and could book out fast, so get in quick while you can!

5. Jamaica

There are also a number of adult’s only resorts around the world, and one that comes to mind is the Hedonism II Resort in Jamaica, if you’re looking for an extended short stay option. Boasted by news.com.au as being “the ultimate location for couples wanting to let their hair down”, it was suggested that “pretty much anything goes here, including nudity… according to the hotel's website: Sleep in. Stay up late. Give up counting calories. Have a drink before noon. Dine in shorts. Talk to strangers. Don't make your bed. Go skinny dipping. Don't call your mother. Let your hair down. Don't leave a tip. Be your beautiful self."

6. Bedarra Island

Or for a more tame and PG like adult’s only resort closer to home, try Bedarra Island. It covers 100 hectares of tropical rainforest, and is part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and Family Group of Islands located approximately 10 kilometres offshore from Mission Beach (between Townsville and Cairns). The Bedarra Island Resort is an upmarket tropical, adult’s only all-inclusive haven. The Point villa is isolated with amazing views over Hernandia Bay with a large outdoor deck featuring a private plunge pool, daybed, sun lounge and outdoor shower.

7. Hamilton Island

Hamilton Island is home to another classy Barrier Reef resort that offers 5 star luxury on the island’s most northern tip. Qualia is private and peaceful with sun decks taking in views of the Coral Sea. Your welcome includes Champagne and your own electric buggy to get around to your personal pavilion, like a treehouse in the vegetation. The Windward Pavilions offer your own private plunge pool and daily breakfast delivered free of charge. You’ll never want to leave!
