I've booked a trip but now I'm nervous about travelling overseas. What's your advice?

Be prepared and be open minded and always consider the ramifications than can impact you before making any decisions to change your mind.

There is plenty of information out there about how to prepare for your trip before you depart. Cruise lines and Tour Operators often provide guidance on what to bring along with you. Smartraveller provides tips on pre-departure actions you should take for your safety.

You can also refer to our Traveller Info guide.

Importantly, you need to manage your expectations and behaviour when abroad. You’re travelling to a place with a different culture, language, different taboos and different laws.

It is always recommended to do your own research on the cultural requirements of the destination you are travelling to and you can always talk to your travel agent about this who will help you understand what might be required or the best places to get this information.
