What to look for with Credit Card 'free' travel insurance?

Many of the major credit cards offer ‘free’ travel insurance. However, it is important that you read the PDS and understand the Terms and Conditions. Here are some important considerations:

Policy inclusions – Check the PDS to understand the level of cover and exactly what the exclusions are. For example, is the destination you’re travelling to covered, are the activities you’ll be undertaking covered i.e., Skiing, scuba diving, bungee jumping, surfing.

Have you used a Credit Card to pay for the holiday? - Some cards will only provide cover for international travel on the portions of the trip paid for with the credit card.

Travel Insurance Help Line – Does the travel insurance provider have a helpline in the event you require assistance or need to process a claim overseas?
